GPS Goes Net-Centric: The 2nd Space Operations Squadron at Schriever AFB, Colo., is finishing up delivery of the Zero Age of Data Navigation Message Replacements on the secure Internet protocol router network (SIPRNet), providing the ability to deliver Global Positioning System information online. Divorcing users from a reliance on “fragile” signals in space is a “historic achievement,” said Maj. Chuck Daniels, the GPS operations center director. The first end user of the new data stream is Air Combat Commands’ small diameter bomb program, where the bomb’s GPS accuracy requirements are more stringent than what is available directly from satellite.
