The Navy is sending a carrier strike group to the Middle East to help in the fight against ISIS, and for a rotation through the Mediterranean Sea. Carrier Strike Group 10, lead by the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower, left Norfolk on Wednesday, along with Carrier Air Wing 3, USNI News reported. The ships are replacing the USS Harry S. Truman Carrier Strike Group, which had depl?oyed to participate in Operation Inherent Resolve in Iraq and Syria. The air wing represents an increase in the number of aircraft available to strike ISIS targets in Iraq and Syria, following a dip so far this year. Lt. Gen. Charles Brown, commander of Air Forces Central Command, said during a briefing last week that he has up to 160 aircraft flying daily over Iraq and Syria. (See also: Tracking Airpower in the AOR)
