Sonny Perdue, governor of Georgia, announced Tuesday that his state and the Warner Robins Air Logistics Center at Robins AFB, Ga., have entered into the state’s “first formal research and development partnership with the United States Air Force.” Overseeing the Cooperative R&D Agreement will be the Georgia Aerospace Innovation Center in Warner Robins, Ga., and the WRALC’s Engineering Directorate. The Georgia AIC plans to enlist private companies to work with University System of Georgia researchers and the Air Force to “help solve specific technological challenges.”
The rate of building B-21 bombers would speed up if the fiscal 2026 defense budget passes. But it remains unclear how much capacity would be added, and whether the Air Force would simply build the bombers faster, or buy more.
