US Pacific Command on May 26 inactivated Joint Task Force 505, which coordinating US military support for relief operations in earthquake-stricken Nepal, after nearly three weeks of operations. Assigned forces have redeployed from Kathmandu, Nepal, and Utapao Royal Thai Naval Airfield, Thailand, where a command and control element was established. Over the course of May, the task force worked alongside personnel from 24 countries at the invitation of the Nepali government, delivering approximately 120 tons of emergency relief supplies, such as medicine, food, shelter kits, water, and other aid. Task Force 505 also transported 553 people and completed 69 casualty evacuation operations. The task force first activated on May 6, after initial US military responses to the earthquake, spearheaded by USAF C-17s, and joined efforts by the joint humanitarian assistance survey team and the US Agency for International Development. Around 900 US military and civilian personnel participated in JTF 505, which included contingency response group airmen, four C-130s, and four USAF C-17s.

Two B-52s assigned to the 2nd Bomb Wing, Barksdale AFB landed at Chennault International Airport, a public airport in Lake Charles, La. on April 12 as part of the wing's Bayou Vigilance Exercise.
