President Obama has nominated Lt. Gen. Tod Wolters to serve as director of operations on the Joint Staff at the Pentagon, according to a June 23 Defense Department release. Wolters has served as deputy chief of staff for operations, plans, and requirements on the Air Staff since December 2014. Lt. Gen. John Raymond, head of 14th Air Force (Air Forces Strategic) has been tapped for assignment as deputy chief of staff for operations on the Air Staff. The President nominated Maj. Gen. David Buck, vice commander of Air Force Space Command, to receive his third star and replace Raymond at 14th AF, according to the release.
The Air Force is launching an effort to develop a new stand-off missile with a range of 1,000 nautical miles, or 1,150 miles, that would eventually be used for both air-to-air and air-to-surface missions.
