The 4th Space Control Squadron located at Holloman AFB, N.M., will move to Peterson AFB, Colo., this year, where it will be collocated with the 76th Space Control Squadron there. The move will help “realize efficiencies between [the 4th SPCS and the 76th SPCS] units, create more effective mission training, increase availability of deployable forces, and reduce the training and sustainment burden for Air Force Space Command and the Space and Missile Systems Center,” states the Jan. 17 release. It will also affect around 90 Active Duty personnel. The move is a result of proposed changes Air Force officials are making to Holloman: F-22s based there will transition to Tyndall AFB, Fla., as Holloman will become a training base for 56 F-16s by October 2015. Additionally, the F-16 training mission will join remotely piloted aircraft schoolhouse already at Holloman, states the release. After all the changes are made, the base is expected to gain 300 personnel, it states.
Anduril and General Atomics will develop their Collaborative Combat Aircraft for the Air Force, beating out Boeing, Lockheed Martin, and Northrop Grumman, the service announced on April 24. But any of the non-selected companies can compete to actually manufacture the eventual design, the Air Force said.
