The Air National Guard and Air Force Reserve plan to host free teen leadership summits this year in Dahlonega, Ga.; Estes, Colo.; and Washington, D.C., for teens 14 to 18 years old with a parent in either reserve component. These summits are designed to combine high-adventure activities with leadership classes to allow teens to tap into their leadership potential and discover hidden strengths. They are also meant to foster in the teens a sense of belonging to the Air Force community. The first in the series, the Classic Teen Leadership Summit, takes place June 19-24 in Dahlonega. The second event, the Capitol Teen Leadership Summit, is new. It runs July 25-29 in Washington. The final gathering, the Adventure Teen Leadership Summit, will be held Aug. 9-14 in Estes Park. The Space Development Agency says it’s on track to issue its next batch of missile warning and tracking satellite contracts this month after those awards were delayed by the Pentagon’s decision to divert funds from the agency to pay troops during this fall’s prolonged government shutdown.
