An article in the Feb. 7 Daily Report incorrectly identified one of the squadrons involved with a record-setting 10-aircraft CV-22 formation on Feb. 3, 2017. The aircraft were from the 8th Special Operations Squadron at Hurlburt Field, Fla., and the 20th Special Operations Squadron at Cannon AFB, N.M. The Air Force has embraced new technical approaches like open mission systems and rapid software updates for cutting-edge aircraft like the B-21 and Collaborative Combat Aircraft. Increasingly, though, the service is also working to apply these to its older, “legacy” aircraft, officials said this week.
