An article in the Feb. 7 Daily Report incorrectly identified one of the squadrons involved with a record-setting 10-aircraft CV-22 formation on Feb. 3, 2017. The aircraft were from the 8th Special Operations Squadron at Hurlburt Field, Fla., and the 20th Special Operations Squadron at Cannon AFB, N.M. We apologize for the error and have corrected the original entry.
Retired Col. Carlyle "Smitty" Harris, known for introducing the "tap code" by which American POWs in North Vietnam could surreptitiously communicate with one another, died July 6. Harris was brutalized by the North Vietnamese over almost eight years of captivity.
