A US airstrike killed ISIS’ leader in Afghanistan, the Pentagon announced Friday. Hafiz Sayed Khan, the Islamic State-Khorasan Province emir who “was known to directly participate in attacks against US? and coalition forces,” died July 26, according to a Pentagon release. The Pentagon asserted Khan’s death affects ISIS’ Khorasan branch’s recruiting efforts and will disrupt the group’s operations in Afghanistan. (See also: Hitting ISIS in Afghanistan.)
The Space Development Agency says it’s on track to issue its next batch of missile warning and tracking satellite contracts this month after those awards were delayed by the Pentagon’s decision to divert funds from the agency to pay troops during this fall’s prolonged government shutdown.
