The Air Force Judge Advocate General’s School at Maxwell AFB, Ala., recently commemorated its 20th anniversary, according to a base release. “The 20th anniversary of the JAG school building dedication is a momentous day in the JAG School’s history,” said Col. Kenneth Theurer, AFJAGS commandant, in the July 2 release. He added, “The in-resident courses, distance education, and publications provided by the JAG school give our students the legal training needed to properly advise commanders on many of the Air Force’s day-to-day operations around the world.” As part of the celebration, the school hosted a dinner attended by leaders, donors, and military retirees who were involved in the early stages of AFJAGS’ development. The commemoration also featured a lecture by retired Army Brig. Gen. Malinda Dunn, who highlighted the importance of law in civil society. “It is the highest honor to lead in any context. It’s not about us; it’s about the difference we can make,” she said. “As lawyers, our ultimate responsibility is to protect the principles of the rule of law.” (Maxwell report by Rebecca Burylo)
