In line with the DOD Inspector General’s finding, the Transportation Department’s IG cleared FAA officials of any wrongdoing during their 9/11 Commission testimony. “We did not find evidence to conclude that FAA officials knowingly made false statements, purposely omitted accurate information from any statement, or intentionally failed to correct an inaccurate statement after becoming aware of it,” said Todd Zinser, DOT’s acting Inspector General. Zinser did find, however, that three FAA executives did not correct an inaccurate response to a question from the 9/11 Commission concerning the agency’s official timeline of events. He recommended taking “administrative action.”
Raytheon, a division of defense giant RTX, recently announced a multiyear deal with the Pentagon to increase annual production of the Air Force’s primary dogfighting missile by more than 50 percent from two years ago.
