Jitters over technical problems and huge cost overruns led National Intelligence Director John Negroponte to change horses on the classified Future Imagery Architecture satellite system, moving the National Reconnaissance Office program from Boeing to Lockheed Martin. According to Reuters news service, Negroponte’s staff informed lawmakers of the new arrangement.
The Space Development Agency added 21 satellites to its nascent data transport network in an Oct. 15 launch, the second mission in 10-month campaign to field 154 operational spacecraft.
