The 375th Communications Squadron at Scott AFB, Ill., received an excellent rating in its recent cyber compliance readiness inspection—an intensive five-day scrub of the unit’s network operations to ensure that cyber-security standards are maintained. “It’s about mission assurance and we as a team are responsible for creating a culture that reinforces that mindset,” said Col. Patrick Gooley, 375th Communications Group commander, in a release dated April 18. Squadron members worked 12-hour shifts leading up to the inspection and partnered with members of the Defense Information Systems Agency, Air Force Space Command, Air Mobility Command, 24th Air Force, 67th Network Warfare Wing, 18th Air Force, and the 561st Network Operations Squadron, Det. 3. “This was truly a Team Scott effort,” said Col. Michael Hornitschek, 375th Air Mobility Wing commander. “I thank everyone for their professionalism and dedication.”
The six-week government shutdown did not affect the hours flown by Air Force pilots, a service spokesperson told Air & Space Forces Magazine—avoiding what could have been a major blow at a time when flying hours are already lower than they have been in decades.
