Air Force rescue airmen from Patrick AFB, Fla., deployed recently for a four-month rotation to Africa and Afghanistan. The airmen and aircraft from the 920th Rescue Wing deployed in two groups: one to Combined Joint Task Force-Horn of Africa for personnel recovery operations and humanitarian relief efforts in that region, the other to Afghanistan where they will fly air rescue missions from Bagram Air Base, according to an Air Force Reserve Command release. The airmen fly HH-60G Pave Hawks and HC-130P/N Combat King aircraft.
The Air Force has selected Collins Aerospace and Shield AI to develop the software Collaborative Combat Aircraft will use to fly missions alongside manned fighters, the service revealed Feb. 12—and drone-maker General Atomics was quick to announce it has already flown its YFQ-42A aircraft with Collins’ system.
