The Defense Department has named retired Air Force Gen. Lester Lyles as the vice chairman of the Defense Science Board. The former commander of the Air Force Materiel Command will serve with former DOD acquisition and technology czar Paul Kaminski, who was just named DSB chairman. Lyles will serve through December 2010.
The Air Force is launching an effort to develop a new stand-off missile with a range of 1,000 nautical miles, or 1,150 miles, that would eventually be used for both air-to-air and air-to-surface missions.
