Lockheed Martin was awarded a $5.8 million one-year contract with four one-year options that could total up to $30 million to provide total training support to all C-5 pilots, flight engineers, loadmasters, and maintenance engine run personnel, the company announced Aug. 17. Under the contract, awarded by FlightSafety Services Corp., Lockheed will manage the C-5 Training Systems Support Center and formal training unit at Lackland AFB, Tex., and provide logistical training support for Dover AFB, Del.; Travis AFB, Calif.; Martinsburg ANGB, W.Va.; Memphis ANGB, Tenn.; Stewart ANGB, N.Y.; and Westover ARB, Mass. Work will include managing the hardware, software, and courseware, maintaining simulator certifications, and overseeing training management system operations. “Training is personalized to ensure each student has the skills needed to engage in missions more quickly and affordably,” said Jim Weitzel, vice president of training and engineering services in Lockheed’s Global Training and Logistics business.
