Retired Maj. Gen. Rick Goddard, former commander of the Warner Robins Air Logistics Center, is helping restore the F-100 Super Sabre he flew in Vietnam 45 years ago. Work on the aircraft, serial No. 56-2995, began three years ago and will take at least another year to complete, states a December museum release. Upon completion, museum officials plan to place the newly restored F-100 in Hangar One, Vietnam’s display hangar. While assigned to the 309th Tactical Fighter Squadron in Vietnam in the late 1960s, Goddard flew 180 combat missions in the single-engine aircraft. The aircraft retired in 1978 and went on display at Otis AFB, Mass. The Museum of Aviation received the aircraft in December 2010 when Goddard discovered the aircraft on Otis’ website. He notified the Museum of Aviation and museum director Ken Emery “negotiated a deal to trade the plan for another less significant F-100 in the museum’s collection,” states the release.

A new law introduced by Congress would raise the pay rate 15 percent for junior enlisted troops and seek improvements on a range of quality of life issues, such as pay and compensation, child care, housing, health care access, and military spouse employment.
