C-17 on Display at Berlin Air Show

A C-17 from JB Charleston, S.C., is among the US military aircraft on display at this week’s Berlin Air Show, according to officials with Air Force Reserve Command’s 315th Airlift Wing at Charleston. “I love showing people our C-17,” said Lt. Col. Craig Bartosh, a C-17 aircraft commander with the wing. German Chancellor Angela Merkel visited the C-17 on Sept. 11, the first day of the show, along with Gen. Philip Breedlove, US Air Forces in Europe commander, and Philip Murphy, US ambassador to Germany, according to the wing’s release. The C-17’s crew includes members of Charleston’s Active Duty 437th AW and the 315th AW, along with Charleston’s only German C-17 exchange pilot, states the release. Among the other US aircraft in Berlin are a C-130, F-16, and Army UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter. Overall, some 300 aircraft from more than 50 different nations are on display at the show, which runs through Sept. 16. (Berlin report by Capt. Wayne Capps)
