Air Force Reserve Command’s 926th Group at Nellis AFB, Nev., is working to swell its ranks by 137 positions to reach a goal of 511 personnel by 2013. Toward that end, the unit, which was activated in October 2007 to work-side by side with active duty personnel to operate Nellis’ Air Force Warfare Center, is recruiting part-time and full-time reservists. Personnel are being sought with skills in areas like operations intelligence, imagery analysis, tactical aircraft maintenance, aircraft electrical and environmental systems, and avionics systems. In addition to Nellis, the group has units based at nearby Creech Air Force Base and at Hurlburt Field, Fla., and Schriever AFB, Colo. (Nellis report by Capt. Jessica Martin)
The Air Force’s Hypersonic Attack Cruise Missile is behind schedule and may significantly overrun its expected cost, which could partially explain why the service is reviving the hypersonic AGM-183 Air-Launched Rapid-Response Weapon.
