CMSgt. Christopher Muncy from the Ohio Air National Guard was announced Monday as the Air Guard’s new command chief. He will succeed CMSgt. Richard Smith, who spent some four years in that position and is retiring this spring after 37 years of service. As command chief, Muncy will be the senior advisor to new ANG Director Lt. Gen. Harry Wyatt on matters concerning the readiness, morale, welfare, proper use, and progress of more than 90,000 enlisted Air Guardsmen. Muncy is an Ohio native who enlisted in the Air Force in 1977 and joined the Air Guard two years later. He has been serving most recently as command chief of the Ohio ANG.
Boeing received a $2.47 billion Air Force contract Nov. 25 for 15 more KC-46s, bringing to 183 the number of Pegasus tankers on contract to all customers, foreign and domestic. The new contract—for Lot 12 of the initially planned KC-46 buy—is to be completed by 2029.
