Air Force aeromedical evacuation crews are adept now at transforming whatever aircraft they are given into a flying hospital, and for severely injured troops, they make them over into intensive care units, reports SSgt. Craig Seals. These medevac teams often fly into forward locations, where they “usually load patients while the engines are still running,” says Capt. Chris Capozzolo, chief nurse with the 455th Expeditionary Aeromedical Evacuation Flight, operating out of Bagram AB, Afghanistan.
