: USAFA officials say the 1,352 young people accepting appointments to the academy this year comprises 277 women—the largest number to enter basic cadet training in the school’s history. The Colorado Springs, Colo.-based school received 9,255 applications for admission to the Class of 2010. Among the 1,352 individuals in the new class are 317 minorities—also marking the largest crop of minority cadets of any previous class.
The last remaining T-1 Jayhawk at JBSA-Randolph, Texas, took its final flight to the "Boneyard" at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, Ariz., on July 15. The 99th Flying Training Squadron will train pilots using T-6 and simulator until it gets T-7 Red Hawk in fiscal 2026.
