A new software center slated for Robins AFB, Ga., which the Air Force declared vital but had left unfunded may come to fruition after all. The Macon Telegraph reports that the Air Force has asked Congress to let it reprogram money it won’t need after all for new dorms at Kunsan AB, South Korea. The service plans to construct a facility for software engineering labs and communications equipment that Robins would use to help develop software for new weapons systems, such as the F-22 and C-17.
Boeing received a $2.47 billion Air Force contract Nov. 25 for 15 more KC-46s, bringing to 183 the number of Pegasus tankers on contract to all customers, foreign and domestic. The new contract—for Lot 12 of the initially planned KC-46 buy—is to be completed by 2029.
