The federal and local agencies investigating the May 3 theft of computer equipment containing personal data for millions of veterans and active and reserve military members have recovered the stolen laptop and external hard drive. According to the FBI’s Baltimore field office, “a preliminary review of the equipment by computer forensic teams determined that the database remains intact and has not been accessed since it was stolen.” Experts are continuing a more examination.
