Continental Air Defense Command-a Joint command composed of Air Force, Army, Navy, and Marine forces-is established at Colorado Springs, Colo. USAF’s Air Defense Command was the Air Force component and main element. CADC was under the Joint Chiefs of Staff and became the US component in the North American Air (now Aerospace) Defense Command (NORAD) upon its establishment in 1957.
The Space Force’s Combat Forces Command is expanding its footprint with the creation of two new operations hubs for electronic warfare and satellite communications.
