British Brig. Gen. Orde Wingate’s Raiders, popularly known as Chindits, are flown by US pilots in Waco CG-4A gliders to “Broadway,” a site near Indaw, Burma, in a daring night operation. Wingate will be killed 19 days later in an airplane crash.
