An MQ-1 Predator remotely piloted aircraft crashed last week at Holloman AFB, N.M., as it was returning from a training mission, base officials stated in a release. The aircraft was assigned to the 6th Reconnaissance Squadron, a component of Holloman’s RPA schoolhouse. There were no injures and no damage to private property in the Oct. 22 mishap, they said. A board will be convened to investigate the accident’s cause.
Air Force Chief of Staff Gen. Kenneth S. Wilsbach told lawmakers Apr. 30 that the service’s biggest airlifter, the C-5 Galaxy, has a 37 percent mission capable rate—one of several challenges facing the mobility fleet.
