The Arizona Air National Guard’s 107th Air Control Squadron has moved from Papago Park in Phoenix to Luke Air Force Base, where it will continue its unique mission of training active duty and Air Guard weapons directors. The 107th ACS began planning the move in 2006 and marked it formally Feb. 17 with a ribbon cutting at its new facility, which required construction of remote radio capabilities and development of a new computer system, among other projects, some of which are ongoing. Lt. Col. Pam Jackson, 107th ACS commander, said the move eliminated “the excessive time it took to travel” back and forth, since students were housed at Luke and had to commute several times a day for classes and briefings. And, the 107th now is co-located with the 607th ACS, which provides advanced weapons director training. (Luke report by Justin Oakes)
