Members of the Indiana Air National Guard’s 181st Intelligence Wing, together with compatriots from the state’s Army National Guard, were activated late last week to aid communities around Terre Haute and in the Wabash Valley region of southern Indiana that were slammed by severe thunderstorms and subsequent flooding. As of June 10, more than 900 Guard airmen and soldiers from across the state were performing missions such as filling and deploying sandbags to stem flood water, assisting in evacuations, recovering stranded citizens, securing facilities, and providing drinking water.
