The Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International on July 2 published an industry code of conduct for remotely piloted aircraft operations. The document is meant to be a set of guidelines to those who design, test, and operate RPAs for public and civil use, including recommendations for safe, non-intrusive RPA operations, according to AUVSI’s release. Central to the code is the need for “safety, professionalism, and respect” in all aspects of RPA use, according to the release. “The emergence of unmanned aircraft systems represents one of the most significant advancements to aviation, the scientific community, and public service since the beginning of flight,” said Michael Toscano, AUVSI president and CEO. He added, “With a commitment to safety, professionalism, and respect, we can ensure unmanned aircraft are integrated responsibly into civil airspace.”
