AFA Announces Team of the Year

The airborne intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance operators career field has been selected as the 2015 Team of the Year, announced the Air Force Association. Forty-seven percent of the airmen serving in the career field, established in 2010, are airman basic through senior airman. Airmen in this career field coordinate mission planning and profile requirement; relay threats, actionable intelligence, and identifiable data; and perform aircrew duties. “We congratulate each and every service member in the airborne ISR career field for this recognition,” said Scott Van Cleef, AFA Chairman of the Board. “ISR is a critical component of the Joint Force. We don’t go to war without it. The men and women of this career field perform an invaluable service to every commander on the ground.” AFA’s Team of the Year program dates back to 1969 and serves as a ?retention tool for the Air Force, recognizing airmen serving in hard-to-fill career fields, or those with a higher-than-average turnover rate. The Chief Master Sergeant of the Air Force selects the career field for recognition based on accomplishments from the previous calendar year. “ISR has become an integral part of our Air Force and gives us the ability to fly, fight, win,” said AFA Acting President Mark Barrett.
