Airmen deployed to support United Nations-African Union operations in Darfur took some time to visit an orphanage in Rwanda. The airmen, from Ramstein AB, Germany, and Charleston AFB, S.C., took coloring books, soccer balls, tennis shoes, and other donations, generating “smiles” from the children, reports Capt. Erin Dorrance.
The six-week government shutdown did not affect the hours flown by Air Force pilots, a service spokesperson told Air & Space Forces Magazine—avoiding what could have been a major blow at a time when flying hours are already lower than they have been in decades.
