The Warner Robins Air Logistics Center at Robins AFB, Ga., has joined with the Defense Logistics Agency to create DLA-Warner Robins, comprising some 240 former ALC employees. It is the first effort by an Air Force Materiel Command ALC to implement a BRAC 2005 mandate that transfers ALC employees in place to a DLA entity that is to provide supply, storage, and distribution support to the ALC, reports DLA’s Amy Clement. AFMC will make the same type of transition at the Oklahoma City ALC at Tinker AFB, Okla. and Ogden ALC at Hill AFB, Utah in February and April 2008, respectively.
A top Pentagon tech official called on industry this week to help the military develop “lighter, more efficient” directed energy weapons designed to go on aircraft and conduct special operations missions or down drones—areas where the Air Force’s directed energy efforts have been quiet as of late.
