The President has nominated Lt. Gen. Stephen Wood for deputy commander, United Nations Command Korea and commander, 7th Air Force. Wood currently serves on the Air Staff as head of A8, strategic plans and programs. The President also has nominated Maj. Gen. Loyd Utterback for a third star and to command 13th Air Force. Utterback is deputy commander of Pacific Air Forces.
The U.S. sent Air Force F-16s over central Syria in a show of force following the Dec. 13 killing of two U.S. Army Soldiers and one American civilian interpreter by a gunman linked to the Islamic State group.
