Survival training for select Air Force career fields ramped up in the post-9/11 world, and the Air Force’s new push to extend such training to all airmen means an even greater workload. A new CSAF’s Scope entry from Gen. Michael Moseley focuses on this “emerging requirement,” saying “look for developments” in survival, evasion, resistance, and escape training. Col. Jeffrey White, head of the 336th Training Group at Fairchild AFB, Wash., home to SERE training central, told The Spokesman Review, “We are a growth business in today’s world.”
The Air Force is planning to spend $2.19 billion over the next five years to acquire new C-37 jets for transporting military and civilian leaders. That’s on top of another $1.17 billion in projected funding for the VC-25B “Air Force One” replacement.
