Airmen Get in Gear With New War Role: 
Airmen with the 424th Medium Truck Detachment help move Army supplies for the 4th Infantry Division from Kuwait into Iraq. They are part of the Air Force’s effort to support the Army—in non-traditional airman ways. Driving tractor-trailers and gun trucks for long trips through the desert, airmen confront every kind of difficulty—from thieves to unplanned road obstructions. With more and more airmen seeing convoy duty, some of those participating take a unique view on the experience. “A lot of people get sent to Iraq, but we get to drive and see Iraq,” said Sra. David Marchuk.
