MSgt. Joseph Jarboe III, an explosive ordnance disposal technician, has received a Bronze Star for his work while deployed to Baghdad Airport in Iraq last year. Jarboe, with the 2nd Civil Engineer Squadron, Barksdale AFB, La., led his EOD team and Army security elements on numerous missions hunting for unexploded ordnance and improvised explosive devices. He supervised the neutralization and disposal of more than 35,000 pounds of enemy explosives and 130 IEDs.
A U.S. Air Force MQ-9 suffered an engine failure flying over Africa in May 2023, forcing the drone’s pilot to down it in the ocean where it was not recovered, according to a new Air Force report. The cost of the mishap was more than $21 million.
