Word came from the Romania government that its parliament had approved US military use of Romania bases just as US Air Forces in Europe airmen were concluding a 10-day exercise with their Romanian counterparts. Sniper Lance 2007 was the second such exercise USAF had conducted with Romania in the past nine months. A USAFE release states that the command expects to establish an operating location in Bucharest this summer to develop future exercises.

An Air Force F-35A successfully carried and dropped inert B61-12 nuclear gravity bombs in flight tests in August, a rare disclosure about the state of U.S. nuclear testing.
