Word came from the Romania government that its parliament had approved US military use of Romania bases just as US Air Forces in Europe airmen were concluding a 10-day exercise with their Romanian counterparts. Sniper Lance 2007 was the second such exercise USAF had conducted with Romania in the past nine months. A USAFE release states that the command expects to establish an operating location in Bucharest this summer to develop future exercises.
The F-47 fighter will be run differently than previous fighter programs and share the same mission systems architecture as the Collaborative Combat Aircraft, Air Force Chief of Staff Gen. David Allvin told the Senate Armed Services Committee. That means advances in one will fuel advances in the other.
