Air Force Materiel Command has folded the Aerospace Maintenance and Regeneration Center, better known as the Boneyard, into its “operational” reorganization structure, renaming AMARC as the 309th Aerospace Maintenance and Regeneration Group. The new group, which still will operate at Davis-Monthan AFB, Ariz., falls under the 309th Maintenance Wing at Hill AFB, Utah. According to the Hilltop Times, this is the center’s ninth name change over its 60-year history.
The last remaining T-1 Jayhawk at JBSA-Randolph, Texas, took its final flight to the "Boneyard" at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, Ariz., on July 15. The 99th Flying Training Squadron will train pilots using T-6 and simulator until it gets T-7 Red Hawk in fiscal 2026.
