Singapore has chosen Boeing’s F-15SG as the country’s next generation replacement fighter, awarding a contract to the company for 12 of the fighters with an option for eight additional aircraft at a future date. The F-15SG is an advanced version of the USAF F-15E Strike Eagle. Boeing officials say the company will begin delivering the aircraft in 2008, allowing the Republic of Singapore Air Force to start replacing its A-4SU Skyhawks.
Aircraft readiness will suffer if Congress does not approve some $1.5 billion worth of spare parts the Air Force requested in its annual Unfunded Priorities List, sent to Capitol Hill last week, Chief of Staff Gen. David W. Allvin said.
