USAF Gen. Charles Wald, deputy commander of US European Command, had some soothing words for Germans. (Some of them have been worried sick about possibly losing their beloved American troops—and their money.) Wald told Gunther Oettinger, the President Minister of Baten-Wurttemberg, during the latter’s visit to EUCOM headquarters that Washington intends to leave that headquarters right there in Stuttgart, where it has been for decades. The Pentagon has announced its intention to bring home thousands of Europe-based troops. Evidently, Stuttgart has survived the cut.
The Space Development Agency says it’s on track to issue its next batch of missile warning and tracking satellite contracts this month after those awards were delayed by the Pentagon’s decision to divert funds from the agency to pay troops during this fall’s prolonged government shutdown.
