Now that the Air Force has declared operational capability for the A-10s already revamped into C model status, officials are looking at the potential to stretch more life out of the Warthog fleet. Service officials have said that the current precision upgrade would keep the fleet viable through 2028. Now, reports Flight International, they could be going for more. Lt. Col. Ralph Hansen, Air Combat Command’s chief of requirements, told FI last week that there are dates being thrown around “that are much [later] than that.”
The last remaining T-1 Jayhawk at JBSA-Randolph, Texas, took its final flight to the "Boneyard" at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, Ariz., on July 15. The 99th Flying Training Squadron will train pilots using T-6 and simulator until it gets T-7 Red Hawk in fiscal 2026.
