The Air Force’s central supply chain manger, the Global Logistics Support Center, will open its headquarters at Scott AFB, Ill., according to a release from Air Force Materiel Command. AFMC considered several sites but selected Scott because it has the “best balance of supply chain knowledge and operational focus.” Scott, of course, is home to US Transportation Command and Air Mobility Command, as well as AMC’s Tanker Airlift Control Center. AFMC already has created a provisional GLSC headquarters, headed by Col. Brent Baker, at Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio. The provisional organization will stand up the GLSC headquarters at Scott with 16 personnel sometime during Fiscal 2008. The GLSC will comprise the headquarters and six operating locations, running three main supply chain functions. Supply Chain Planning and Execution personnel—about 3,000 overall—will operate at Hill AFB, Utah, Robins AFB, Ga., and Tinker AFB, Okla.—each home to an air logistics center. Supply Chain Operations personnel—around 1,000—are engaged at Langley AFB, Va., and Hill, Robins, Scott, and Tinker. Supply Chain Strategy and Integration personnel—some 200—will operate at Wright-Patt.

While none of the major aircraft contractors were selected to develop the Collaborative Combat Aircraft, all three say they are seeking further autonomous aircraft work for the Navy, foreign partners, or in the classified arena, and maybe future versions of the CCA itself.
