A day after Hurricane Andrew smashed into southern Florida, Air Mobility Command, Air Force Reserve, and Air National Guard transports, augmented by airliners under contract, deliver more than 21,000 tons of relief supplies and transport more than 13,500 passengers.
The Air Force plans to conduct more intensive training—and Congress is set to help by boosting funding for exercises and so-called “campaigning” by hundreds of millions of dollars, particularly in the Pacific.
