Air Force Reserve Command’s 960th Cyberspace Operations Group activated its newest squadron Nov. 6 at Robins AFB, Ga. Maj. Karl Miller assumed command of the 710th Network Operations Squadron, according to a release. During the ceremony, 960th CyOG Commander Col. Anthony Perkins likened the new unit’s mission—“providing information dominance for air, land, maritime, and space”—to building a plane while it flies, according to the release. “In the cyber domain, policy and procedure regarding authorities, levels of effort, manning, and training, are being written and under constant review while we engage the enemy constantly,” he said. Airmen who make up the 710th NOS previously supported the Major Command Communication Coordination Center, but Miller noted three full-time Air Reserve technicians will be hired and 15 vacancies still need to be filled.
The Air Force is now expecting delivery of the first VC-25B presidential transport by mid-2028, months ahead of its last official projection, a service spokesperson said this week. USAF also announced it is buying two used Boeing 747-8 jetliners for training and spare parts to be delivered in 2026, calling the $400 million deal part of its “acceleration efforts” for the oft-delayed presidential airlift program.
