The Defense Department selected SrA. Joshua Livingston with the 90th Civil Engineer Squadron, 90th Missile Wing, at F.E. Warren AFB, Wyo., as the Firefighter of the Year. Among his achievements, he saved the life of an infant in respiratory distress, stabilized several victims of a multi-vehicle accident on a major interstate, and treated an individual badly burned in an electrical fire. Livingston, who has responded to more than 150 fires during his USAF service, said, “I’ve always wanted to be a fireman.” He now mentors rookie airmen and, on his own time, developed an instructional packet to help new USAF firefighters maintain their training records. Among his community activities, Livingston volunteers as a firefighter in Cheyenne, Wyo., and teaches basic CPR for local scouts. (F.E. Warren report by A1C Jennifer Viveiros)
President Donald Trump signed legislation reopening the federal government late Nov. 12, ending the longest shutdown in U.S. history. The move sets the stage for tens of thousands of defense civilians to return to work and guarantees troops will be paid in a few days’ time.
