JSF Simulator Lands in Hawaii:
Airmen at Hickam AFB, Hawaii, recently got a look at the future of fifth-generation fighter training when Lockheed Martin’s F-35 Joint Strike Fighter pilot interface simulator came to the base. The simulator is very close to the real thing and has already been tested on different platforms, according to Lockheed’s Clyde Bellinger. Pilots will have the advantage of using an advanced cockpit display that will put all the tactical situational information right there in one place, said Maj. Don Borchelt, the chief of the air-to-air section at PACAF. (Read the Daily Report’s take on the JSF sim ride here.)
The Space Development Agency says it’s on track to issue its next batch of missile warning and tracking satellite contracts this month after those awards were delayed by the Pentagon’s decision to divert funds from the agency to pay troops during this fall’s prolonged government shutdown.
