Two Air Force airmen were killed and one was injured in a March 15 car accident outside the Honduran city of La Ceiba. The airmen had been deployed in support of a joint training exercise called New Horizons 2006-Honduras in cooperation with the Honduras government. The injured airman was taken to a local hospital where he is being treated for serious injuries, according to an Air Force statement. Names of the dead are being withheld pending notification of family.
An Air Force F-16 pilot was presented with one of the service’s highest aerial achievement awards for a mission in which he dodged multiple surface-to-air missiles during last year’s Operation Rough Rider against Houthi militants in Yemen.
