Air Force Space Command plans to hold the space and missile competition known as Guardian Challenge, culminating in an awards banquet on Aug. 17. Real-world deployments caused the command to cancel the Challenge last year. Peterson AFB, Colo., home to AFSPC headquarters and several space units, is host to this year’s competition. The command’s helicopter crews held their portion of the competition in May at Camp Guernsey, Wyo.
The Department of the Air Force is eyeing a construction boom with its fiscal 2027 budget, with a spending plan that more than doubles 2026 spending for new military construction, family housing, and facility upkeep, according to budget documents.
