The Pentagon has just hosted 39 students from area high schools for IT Job Shadow Day, knowing that some 10,000 information technology civilian employees will be eligible to retire at the end of the year. Leaders of the Defense Department’s IT community spoke to the students about the working environment, the rewards of government employment, and what they need to do to be competitive. The group also visited the National Military Command Center for briefings on scholarships, internships, and jobs in IT within the department.
